Our current Defender listings run from AED 157500 for an early-2020s car up to AED 359990 for the newest one. Specification moves the price more than the model year does at this age.
Which used Land Rover Defender year should you buy?
Any of them, then choose the body. The current Defender launched for 2020 as the five-door 110, joined by the short three-door 90 the following year and the longer eight-seat 130 for 2023. There has been no generation change since, so a 2020 car is the same design as a 2023 one: pick on wheelbase, engine and equipment, and take the six-cylinder petrol over the four if you tow or carry a full load.
Is a used Land Rover Defender reliable?
Far better than the badge's reputation suggests, on our own findings. 19% of the Land Rover Defenders we inspect in the UAE show evidence of previous body or panel repair against the 40% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here, interior staining runs at 2% against 14% expected for that same group, and neither mechanical nor tyre faults appear at all. These are young cars at a typical 50,000 km, so the diligence that matters is air suspension behaviour and software history rather than accident repair.

It is the strongest thing in its class here — about 65% of its value after five years, against roughly 46% for UAE SUVs of its type.
Land Rover Defender or BMW 540?
At this money most buyers are choosing between the Defender and a German saloon. The BMW 540 is quicker, quieter and inspects beautifully — no mechanical faults found against a 26% expectation for its class. The Mercedes C200 costs far less to buy. Neither will leave the tarmac. Within Land Rover, the Discovery Sport is the cheaper way in.
