About BAIC BJ80

The BJ80 is the most expensive car BAIC sells in the UAE, and it makes no secret of what it is imitating: a squared-off, 4,765 mm four-wheel drive with a six-cylinder engine and a boxy silhouette borrowed from a far pricier German original. Two versions are offered.

How much does the BAIC BJ80 cost in the UAE?

The two 2026 cars are barely apart — AED 255,000 for the Supreme and AED 257,250 for the Mount Everest. When the gap is this narrow the entry version has little reason to exist, so treat the Mount Everest edition as the default and check what its extra equipment actually consists of.

Which BJ80 trim is the one to buy?

The Mount Everest, on the arithmetic alone. The premium over the Supreme is small enough to vanish into a finance payment, the 3.0 L engine and 245 bhp are identical, and a distinctively named top version is easier to sell on later. Choose the Supreme only if you are indifferent to the badge and the trim details.

BAIC BJ80 or Jeep Wrangler?

The BJ80 buys a great deal more presence for the money — six cylinders, a large, imposing body and a cabin trimmed to a level the price does not suggest. If that shape is what you want, this is the affordable route to it. The Jeep Wrangler is the more capable and much better supported vehicle, and the Land Rover Defender is what the BJ80's styling is chasing, at a very different price.

What does a BAIC BJ80 cost to run in the UAE?

A six-cylinder box on four-wheel drive is thirsty, and insurance follows a high purchase price, so neither cost is small. The one to investigate before signing is depreciation: a low-volume flagship from a young brand has few second-hand buyers, so ask whether the warranty transfers, because that clause is one of the few things that will help you sell it.

Does the BJ80 hold its price?

Slightly better than its peer group — about 53% after five years against roughly 52% for Chinese brands here, and 68% at three. Distinctive-looking off-roaders tend to find buyers even when the badge is unfamiliar. The risk is not depreciation but condition: a car like this is often used as intended, so underbody scrapes, water ingress after dune driving and worn steering components are the things a report should confirm before you commit.

Drive it back to back with the cheaper BAIC BJ40 before committing — the difference in money is larger than the difference in ability.
