BMW's 8 Series is a grand tourer rather than a sports car, and the UAE is one of the few markets where that distinction plays entirely to its strengths: long distances, smooth roads and a climate that punishes anything stiffly sprung. Three body styles are offered on the same straight six. It is also the oldest car BMW sells here: this generation dates from 2018 and has had only light revisions since.
How much does the BMW 8 Series cost in the UAE?
Roof and doors set this price list. The convertible, the coupé and the four-door Gran Coupe all use the 840i's straight six and rise in that order to AED 500,000 for the 840i Gran Coupe. Oddly, the lowest figure on the list, AED 425,000, attaches to the V8 rather than to any of the sixes.
Which BMW 8 Series is the one to buy?
The 840i Gran Coupe, on usability. It is the dearest of the three sixes and the only one you can put adults in, and the extra length suits the car's proportions better than the coupé's does. The convertible makes sense for perhaps four months a year here; the V8 is the enthusiast's answer and the expensive one to feed.
BMW 8 Series or Porsche Panamera?
The 8 Series is the calmer, more comfortable grand tourer and costs considerably less to get into, with a six-cylinder engine better suited to long-distance work than to a circuit. The Porsche Panamera is sharper and faster and holds its value more stubbornly, which narrows the real cost gap. The Mercedes CLS is the quiet third option.
What does a BMW 8 Series cost to run in the UAE?
The 840i cars are surprisingly manageable, since a six-cylinder grand tourer is not an exotic to service, while the V8 roughly doubles the fuel and tyre bill. The network is divided between AGMC in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi Motors in the capital. On a low-volume model, ask about panel lead times before you commit.
Choose the body first, then look at what the used 8 Series market is asking.
