The Charger is the answer to a question almost nobody else still asks: what if a full-size saloon had a V8, rear-wheel drive and four doors? It remains the only genuine muscle car you can put a child seat in. The car has been on sale in this shape since 2011, and Dodge has stopped building it — so this is the close of the line rather than a current design.
How much does the Dodge Charger cost in the UAE?
Six trims, and they are ordered by engine rather than by equipment, which is why the list looks untidy. AED 174,900 starts with the GT 3.6L V6 Black Edition on the V6; the R/T brings the 5.7-litre V8; the Scat Pack models move to 6.4 litres; and the supercharged SRT 6.2L V8 HellCat RedEye WideBody closes the range at AED 389,900.
Which Charger trim is the one to buy?
The R/T. It is the cheapest way into a V8 Charger, and the V8 is the entire reason to buy one instead of a quieter saloon. The Scat Pack is quicker and considerably more expensive to run; the V6 cars are comfortable and competent but leave the car's character on the table.
Dodge Charger or Ford Mustang?
The Charger does something the Mustang cannot: four doors, a family-sized cabin and a 467-litre boot, with the same V8 noise. If the car has to serve as transport as well as entertainment, this is the one. The Ford Mustang is lighter, sharper and much better at resale. The Chevrolet Camaro is the driver's choice and the least practical.
What does a Dodge Charger cost to run in the UAE?
Around 7 Km/L from the V6, and a V8 will do worse — fuel, rear tyres and insurance are where the money goes, and none of them is a surprise on a car like this. Mechanically it is simple and durable, parts are cheap, and independent workshops are entirely comfortable with these engines. Depreciation is the biggest cost of all.
Does the Dodge Charger hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
It is the weak spot: about 31% of its value after five years, against roughly 40% for the average used sedan here. These cars also work hard, and across 1,148 CarSwitch inspections the median is around 145,000 km, so the suspension, the gearbox and the condition of the rear tyres and brakes matter far more than the model year. Read those sections of the report on the individual car before anything else.
Is a used Charger the better buy?
Emphatically. An early-2020s example generally runs around AED 75,000 to AED 165,000, about 56% below the new entry price and roughly AED 100,000 saved. That is one of the widest new-to-used gaps on anything sold here, and it means a used V8 Charger costs less than a new small hatchback.
