About Hyundai Santa Fe

The current Santa Fe is the boxy, upright redesign that turned Hyundai's family SUV into something people buy on looks — 7 seats, a 10.25-inch screen, six airbags, and a range that stretches from a plain front-drive family car to a genuinely quick turbocharged flagship.

How much does the Hyundai Santa Fe cost in the UAE?

The two ends of this range are not the same class of car. AED 135,000 buys the 2.5 I4 FWD, front-wheel drive and naturally aspirated; AED 255,000 buys the Smartstream G2.5T, and in between sit all-wheel-drive turbo versions and a hybrid. More money here buys drivetrain, not just leather, which is why the spread is so wide.

Which Santa Fe trim is the one to buy?

The all-wheel-drive turbo in the lower half of the range is the sweet spot. The front-drive entry car is the value buy and perfectly adequate for school runs and highway miles, but it gives up the traction that makes the difference on sand and in heavy rain. The upper trims add equipment and finish at prices that reach into a class above.

Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento?

The Santa Fe is the more distinctive car and the better-packaged one, with a squarer roofline that makes the third row usable in a way its rivals' are not. The Kia Sorento is the same engineering in more conservative clothes. The Toyota Highlander costs more and gives back more at resale, which is the one column where the Santa Fe loses.

What does a Hyundai Santa Fe cost to run in the UAE?

About 12 Km/L from the base 2.5 L four, less if you take a turbo. Juma Al Majid's Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah workshops handle the scheduled servicing, and keeping the car inside that network is what makes the remaining warranty worth something to the next owner — on a seven-seater, that transfer is a real part of the resale price.

Does the Hyundai Santa Fe hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

Slightly below the class — about 47% of its value after five years, against roughly 51% for the average used SUV here. The Santa Fes CarSwitch inspects show a median of around 160,000 km, which reflects a car bought to carry families long distances rather than one treated gently. That is the segment, not a fault — but suspension and brake wear is expected at those distances, so the inspection report on the individual car is what tells you whether it was maintained.

Is a used Santa Fe the better buy?

Often, yes. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 80,000 to AED 125,000, roughly 41% below the new entry price — about AED 55,000 saved on a car whose mechanical package has not fundamentally changed. The compromise is usually specification: at that money you are buying front-wheel drive, not the turbo.

Decide whether you need all-wheel drive, then check that against the used Santa Fes listed now.
