Isuzu builds the D-Max for work first and refinement second, and that order of priorities is why fleets here keep re-ordering it. The current truck is quieter and better trimmed inside than the one it replaced, but the 3 L turbo-diesel and the ladder frame under it are unchanged in intent.
How much does the Isuzu D-Max cost in the UAE?
The ladder is really two decisions — cab shape, then drivetrain. AED 110,000 buys the DMax 3.0L FlatBed 2WD, a two-wheel-drive workhorse with a flat load bed and nothing you do not need. From there the crew cabs add four-wheel drive, a proper back seat and finally an automatic gearbox, ending at AED 135,000 for the DMax 3.0L Crew Cab 4WD GT.
Which D-Max trim is the one to buy?
The crew-cab four-wheel drive with the automatic, for most private buyers. Manual versions cost less and still make sense for a fleet, but the automatic is worth its premium in daily traffic and is easier to sell on afterwards. The DMax 3.0L Crew Cab 4WD GT spends its extra on comfort and trim rather than capability, so skip it if the truck has a job to do.
Isuzu D-Max or Toyota Hilux?
Take the D-Max if running cost decides it: the diesel is famously unstressed, 190 BHP and 450 Nm arrive low down, and it usually undercuts the segment for the same payload. The Toyota Hilux is the stronger resale bet and the quicker truck to sell, which matters if you change vehicles every three years. The Nissan Navara rides better than either and carries a lighter reputation for hard work.
What does a D-Max cost to run in the UAE?
Diesel, and about 11 Km/L of it. The engine is tuned for torque rather than revs, which keeps consumption steady even loaded, and mechanically there is very little to go wrong. Buying and servicing runs through commercial-vehicle channels rather than a showroom on every high street, so get the service intervals and the warranty terms confirmed in writing before you sign anything.
Does the D-Max hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
It holds about 56% of its value after five years, marginally ahead of the 55% typical of mainstream Japanese vehicles here — steady rather than spectacular, which is what a working truck should be. Mileage is the bigger variable: the D-Maxes CarSwitch inspects reach a median of around 150,000 km, well past what a passenger car shows at the same age, so the odometer alone tells you very little. Read the inspection report on the individual truck, where the chassis, bushes and load bed record how it was actually used.
Settle the cab shape first, then price the drivetrain against what the truck genuinely has to carry.
