About Mazda CX-60

A longitudinal engine, rear-biased all-wheel drive and a straight-six under a long bonnet: the CX-60 is Mazda building a premium SUV on premium architecture, and pricing it below the German cars it was engineered to challenge. Both the nameplate and the architecture are new, introduced in the early part of this decade to take Mazda somewhere it had not been before.

How much does the Mazda CX-60 cost in the UAE?

Two trims, both already generously equipped. AED 165,000 takes the Azami; AED 204,000 takes the Takumi, which adds the top interior specification. Both use the 3.3 L six-cylinder producing 280 bhp, so this is a choice about cabin materials rather than about how the car performs.

Which CX-60 trim is the one to buy?

The Azami, unless the interior upgrade is genuinely what you want from the car. The engine, the drivetrain, the suspension and the 450 Nm are identical, and the Azami's equipment list already covers everything most owners use. The gap between the two is large enough to fund several years of running costs.

Mazda CX-60 or Toyota RAV4?

These meet at the top of one range and the bottom of another. The CX-60 offers six cylinders, rear-drive-based handling and an interior in a different league — closer to a European premium SUV than to a mainstream one. The Toyota RAV4 is the safer financial choice, with stronger resale and cheaper servicing. The Honda CR-V gives more interior space for less money.

What does a CX-60 cost to run in the UAE?

About 7.4 L/100 Km, which is respectable for a six-cylinder SUV of this size. Servicing runs through Galadari Automobiles in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah; on a newer, more complex model it is worth staying inside that network while the car is young, since independent workshops have had less time with this engine than with Mazda's four-cylinders.

Does the CX-60 hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

It holds about 57% of its value after five years, a little ahead of roughly 55% for mainstream Japanese cars here — respectable for a model this new to the market. The cars we have inspected sit at a median of around 21,000 km, which is light running-in mileage and means the used stock is barely used. On cars this fresh, what the inspection report reveals about prior accident repair matters far more than any mechanical wear item.

If the six-cylinder appeals, price a new one against the used CX-60s listed now — early examples are close to new condition.
