Three rows, 7 seats and a 3.3-litre straight-six driving all four wheels — the CX-90 is the largest and most ambitious thing Mazda has built, and it is aimed at families who would otherwise be shopping premium European badges. It replaced the CX-9 rather than updating it, and the change went to the bones: a new rear-biased platform and a longitudinal six in place of a transverse turbocharged four.
How much does the Mazda CX-90 cost in the UAE?
Three trims, from AED 169,000 for the Preferred Plus 4WD to AED 231,000 for the Premium Plus 4WD. Every version has the six-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive and 345 BHP, so the money buys interior specification, screens and seat materials rather than performance. Even the entry car is comprehensively equipped.
Which CX-90 trim is the one to buy?
The Preferred Plus 4WD. It carries the same drivetrain and the same 500 Nm as the two above it, seats seven, and leaves a considerable sum in your pocket. The Premium grades are worth considering only if the leather, upgraded audio and larger displays are things you will use daily rather than admire once.
Mazda CX-90 or Toyota Highlander?
The CX-90 drives like a much smaller car and has the more luxurious cabin of the two by a clear margin, with a straight-six that makes rivals' four-cylinders feel strained. The Toyota Highlander counters with lower running costs and stronger resale. The Honda Pilot is the most practical of the three if the third row is in constant use.
What does a CX-90 cost to run in the UAE?
Roughly 9 Km/L, which is reasonable for a seven-seat six-cylinder SUV, though tyres and brakes reflect the size. Galadari Automobiles covers Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah for sales and service, and with a recently launched drivetrain there is a good case for keeping the car inside that network for its early years.
Does the CX-90 hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
Early signs are good: about 58% of its value after five years, against roughly 55% for mainstream Japanese cars here. It is too new to judge on long-term wear, and the cars we have inspected reflect that, sitting at a median of around 32,000 km — comfortably light for an SUV this size. On a model this young, the inspection report earns its place by revealing accident and paint history rather than mechanical fatigue.
Sit in the third row, then compare a new one with the used CX-90s listed now — early cars have barely been run in.
