The Countryman is the MINI that stopped being small. At 4,299 mm long with a 450-litre boot and five real seats, it is the only member of the family that works as a household's main car — and the range runs from a modest front-driver to a John Cooper Works version. It grew again in 2024, when the current generation arrived on the same platform as the BMW X1.
How much does the MINI Countryman cost in the UAE?
Five versions, and they cluster in two groups. The C Essential at AED 135,000 and the C Favoured above it are the front-driven cars; then the ALL4 versions arrive with all-wheel drive, ending with the Cooper S ALL4 JCW Kit and a JCW ALL4 sharing the top price of AED 175,000.
Which Countryman is the one to buy?
The Cooper S ALL4. It is the first version with all-wheel drive and the 2.0 L engine, and the jump from the front-driven cars changes how the car behaves rather than just how it is trimmed. At the very top, the JCW ALL4 and the S ALL4 with the JCW kit cost the same — one is a faster car, the other is the look of one.
MINI Countryman or BMW X1?
The Countryman shares its platform and engines with the BMW but wraps them in a far more distinctive interior and a sharper steering setup, so you give up nothing mechanical for the character. The BMW X1 has more rear legroom, a bigger boot and a calmer ride, which suits families better. The Audi Q3 is the most conventional and the quietest of the three.
What does a MINI Countryman cost to run in the UAE?
Reasonable, because the running gear is shared with high-volume BMW models rather than unique to MINI, so parts are stocked rather than ordered. Servicing splits between AGMC across Dubai and the Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi Motors in the capital — worth checking which one you fall under before buying, because it decides where every warranty visit happens.
How does a MINI Countryman age, and what is it worth later?
Value slips below the class, to about 40% after five years against roughly 45% for mainstream European cars in the Emirates. Mileage explains part of it: these reach inspection at a median of around 100,000 km, which is well into the range where deferred maintenance surfaces. Check the service file, the cooling system and the air-conditioning on the individual car's report rather than trusting the advertised history.
Is a used Countryman the better buy?
Yes, and by more than the Cooper offers. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 95,000 to AED 125,000, roughly 31% under the new entry price — about AED 40,000 saved. The main thing to establish is whether the car you are looking at is front or all-wheel drive, since that changes the vehicle considerably. Compare the used Countryman listings on drivetrain first.
Establish the drivetrain before the trim level, whether you are buying new or used.
