About Range Rover Evoque

The Evoque is the Range Rover that sells on its shape. It has been the brand's design signature since 2011, and the current car keeps the falling roof and rising waistline while fixing most of what made the first one awkward to live with. That current car is the second generation, launched in 2018, and its 2023 facelift replaced most of the cabin.

How much does the Range Rover Evoque cost in the UAE?

Seven versions cover a surprisingly tight band — AED 229,005 for the S P200 2.0L up to AED 302,820 for the 2.0T R-Dynamic HSE (250 PS) — and the steps buy power and equipment rather than a different car. There is also a plug-in hybrid in the middle of the ladder, which the rest of the class mostly does not offer at this price.

Which Evoque trim is the one to buy?

Start with the engine. The 200-horsepower entry car is adequate rather than quick and is the sensible city choice; the 250 versions are the ones that make the car feel as expensive as it looks. The plug-in is worth it only if you can charge at home, since it runs on petrol regardless and otherwise just carries the battery around.

Range Rover Evoque or BMW X2?

The Evoque is the one people want, and that is a legitimate reason: nothing else in the compact premium class has this presence, and the interior is a proper Range Rover cabin rather than a scaled-down one. The BMW X2 is quicker and cheaper to run; the Audi Q3 is more practical and holds its value considerably better.

Does the Evoque hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

This is the car's weak point: about 25% of its value after five years, against roughly 48% for European premium cars here. The cars CarSwitch inspects run a median of around 135,000 km with nothing unusual showing up, solid distance for a compact luxury SUV of this age. Steep depreciation is not a mechanical verdict — but it does mean the condition of an individual car, not its age, is what you are actually paying for.

Is a used Evoque the better buy?

Emphatically. Because the first owner absorbs so much, used examples generally run from around AED 55,000 to AED 80,000 for a late-2010s car — a fraction of the new figure for the same shape and the same badge. Service history and electrical health are what separate a good one from a cheap one.

Look at the new ladder, then at the used Evoques listed now, and the decision usually makes itself.
