About Subaru BRZ

The BRZ is a rear-wheel-drive coupe with a 2.4-litre flat-four sitting so low in the nose that the car steers like nothing else at the price. It is the least practical Subaru and easily the most interesting — 195 litres of boot and 4 seats, two of them theoretical.

How much does the Subaru BRZ cost in the UAE?

Three 2026 cars, and the gearbox is the first decision rather than the last. The manual opens the range at AED 118,000; the automatic costs more, and the version with the uprated Brembo brakes finishes it at AED 145,000. All three share the same 2.4-litre boxer engine and the same rear-wheel drive.

Which BRZ is the one to buy?

The manual, if you can drive one. It is the cheapest car in the range and the one the chassis was designed around; the automatic makes more sense in traffic but removes most of the reason to own a BRZ in the first place. The Brembo package is worth having only if you intend to use the car on track.

Subaru BRZ or Toyota Supra?

The BRZ is the purer driver's car and costs far less to buy, insure and run — light, balanced, naturally aspirated, and slow enough that you can actually use it on a public road. The Toyota Supra is much faster and much more expensive, a different class of car rather than a better version of this one. The BMW 4 Series is the comfortable alternative.

What does a BRZ cost to run in the UAE?

About 10 Km/L, and the mechanical simplicity helps: no turbocharger, no hybrid system, no adaptive dampers waiting to fail. The one discipline that matters is oil. The boxer engine wants its changes on schedule and sooner if the car is driven hard, which most of them are, and servicing runs through the authorised network.

Does the BRZ hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

Close to the class — about 53% after five years, against roughly 55% for mainstream Japanese cars here, which is respectable for a coupe. The BRZs CarSwitch inspects run to a median of around 57,000 km, and the boxer engine and manual gearbox tolerate spirited driving well provided oil changes have been kept up. That service record, and evidence of how the car has been used, is what to read on the individual inspection report.

Is a used BRZ the better buy?

Often, provided you inspect properly. These are cars that get driven hard and modified, so the spread in condition between two identical-looking examples is wider than in any other segment — which is exactly why the report matters more here than the mileage or the year does.
