About Volkswagen Jetta

Nothing in the Volkswagen range undercuts the Jetta, and very little in the compact sedan class offers as much rear legroom or boot space for the money. It is the plainest car the brand sells here, and that is most of its argument. It has worn this body since 2018 and been facelifted once since, which makes it one of the longer-running designs in the range.

How much does the Volkswagen Jetta cost in the UAE?

One specification, AED 93,100, and no options ladder to climb. The 1.5L arrives with the 1.5 L turbo, an automatic gearbox, 5 seats and a 510-litre boot that shames cars a class above. Single-trim pricing is unusual and it works in the buyer's favour: there is no upsell conversation to have.

Is the Jetta big enough for a family?

Comfortably, for four. The wheelbase is generous for the segment, rear headroom is good, and the boot swallows luggage that a Corolla or Civic would struggle with. What it does not offer is the raised seating position families increasingly want, which is the real reason compact sedans lose these buyers to small SUVs rather than any shortage of space.

Volkswagen Jetta or Toyota Corolla?

Buy the Jetta for the drive and the space — it is quieter at highway speed, better damped over broken surfaces and more comfortable on a long trip than anything else at this money. The Toyota Corolla holds its value better and is cheaper to have serviced, which over five years is real money. The Honda Civic is the sharper drive of the two Japanese cars.

What does a Jetta cost to run in the UAE?

Cheaply. 14.1 Km/L from a 115 BHP engine that is under no strain, and insurance at the bottom of the scale. Servicing goes through Al Nabooda Automobiles in Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah; that is a thinner network than the Japanese brands run, so if you live outside those emirates, check the distance to a workshop before you buy rather than after.

Does the Jetta hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

Better than most German sedans here — about 46% of its value after five years, against roughly 43% for the German premium saloon class. Longevity is the more interesting number: the Jettas reaching CarSwitch for inspection reach a median of around 155,000 km, which for a car of this size says the mechanicals are not the thing that stops them. What ages is the cabin trim and the suspension bushes, both of which are cheap to put right and both of which show up in the inspection report on the specific car.

Price a new one against the used Jettas listed now — on a car this affordable new, the gap is often smaller than buyers expect.
