The X2 is an X1 with a lower roof, less rear headroom and more style — and in the UAE it does something its sibling does not: it keeps its value, which reshapes the whole argument between them. BMW replaced the X2 in 2023 with a much larger car — a coupé-roofed X1 rather than the tall hatchback the badge used to mean.
How much does the BMW X2 cost in the UAE?
Two 2026 cars separated by the smallest gap in the BMW range. The sDrive18i Special Edition opens at AED 205,000 and the sDrive18i Luxury M Sport Package sits barely above it at AED 215,000, sharing the same engine and the same front-wheel-drive layout. What the extra buys is trim and wheels, not performance.
Which BMW X2 trim is the one to buy?
The Luxury M Sport, and this is one of the few cars where that advice comes without caveats. The difference in price is small enough to disappear into a monthly payment, while the M Sport body kit, wheels and interior are exactly what the used market looks for on a car bought largely on appearance. Buying the cheaper one saves little and costs more later.
BMW X2 or Mercedes GLA?
The X2 is the better car to drive and the more interesting shape, and about 7.7 L/100 Km from its 2.0 L four-cylinder is competitive in the class. The Mercedes GLA is taller, easier to get in and out of and has the more usable rear seat, so it wins on practicality. The Audi Q2 is the smallest and cheapest of the three.
What does a BMW X2 cost to run in the UAE?
Cheap for a premium badge, with insurance below the rear-drive BMWs and a four-cylinder that asks little. Buy from whichever distributor is closest — AGMC in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Abu Dhabi Motors in Abu Dhabi — because on a car you will service every year, the drive to the workshop is a genuine running cost.
Does the BMW X2 hold its value in the UAE, and what should you watch for as it ages?
Better than any other BMW SUV here: about 67% after three years and 51% after five, against roughly 58% and 40% for German premium SUVs generally. Demand for the shape outruns the number BMW brings in, which is what props the price up. The cars CarSwitch inspects show a median of around 60,000 km, so the report items that matter are the front tyres and the dual-clutch service record.
Is a used BMW X2 the better buy?
Less clearly than on most BMWs, and that is the point. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 130,000 to AED 145,000, roughly 36% below the new entry price — about AED 75,000 saved. That is a real discount, but the X2's own resale strength means the second-hand car will cost you less again when you sell it on.
Weigh the small step to the higher trim, then look at the used X2 listings before deciding.
