No BMW loses money faster in the UAE than the X6, and no BMW rewards a second-hand buyer more for it. The coupé-roofed version of the X5 costs more new, gives up boot space and rear headroom, and gives back a great deal less at resale. Both come from the same 2019 generation, facelifted together in 2023.
How much does the BMW X6 cost in the UAE?
Four 2026 versions, all of them expensive. The xDrive40i Luxury M Sport Package opens the range at AED 460,500 with the straight six, a Masterclass version of that car and the V8-powered M60i sit above it, and the M Competition Masterclass closes the list at AED 680,000. Each sits above the equivalent X5.
Which BMW X6 trim is the one to buy?
The xDrive40i in its base Luxury specification. The straight six is more than adequate in a car bought for its shape rather than its lap times, and it is the version that retains most of its price. Stepping up to the M60i or M Competition adds a very large fuel bill to a car already losing value quickly.
BMW X6 or Porsche Cayenne?
The X6 is the cheaper way into the look and the more comfortable of the two over distance, with a better-judged ride and a quieter cabin in six-cylinder form. The Porsche Cayenne is the better car in almost every dynamic sense and holds value far more strongly, which changes the real cost of ownership completely. The Audi Q8 sits between them on both counts.
What does a BMW X6 cost to run in the UAE?
About the same as an X5 on the six-cylinder car, with the V8s in a different bracket entirely. The network is divided between AGMC, covering Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and Abu Dhabi Motors in the capital. The coupé rear screen is the one X6-specific item worth pricing before you buy, because it is not a cheap panel.
Does the BMW X6 hold its value in the UAE, and what should you watch for as it ages?
This is the weak point: about 52% after three years and 33% after five, against roughly 58% and 40% for German premium SUVs here. A style-led body on a mainstream platform is always the harder resale, and the X6 is the clearest example in the range. The cars reaching CarSwitch for inspection arrive at a median of around 130,000 km, so read the report closely on air suspension, cooling and brake wear.
Is a used BMW X6 the better buy?
More convincingly than on any other BMW here. An early-2020s example generally runs around AED 170,000 to AED 275,000, roughly 63% below the new entry price — about AED 290,000 saved, the largest new-versus-used gap in the range. If you want this car, letting the first owner absorb that drop is the obvious move.
Decide what the roofline is actually worth to you, then look at the used X6 listings — this is the model where that comparison bites hardest.
