Full-size pickups are a different category from the mid-size trucks most people picture, and the Silverado is the one that makes the case cheapest. Nearly six metres long, a 5.3-litre V8 under the bonnet, and a cabin that seats five adults without argument. The current generation arrived in 2018 and was facelifted in 2022, when the interior was replaced with something far better than the launch car's.
How much does the Chevrolet Silverado cost in the UAE?
The 2026 range is unusually deep — more than a dozen configurations — and cab style matters as much as trim. AED 166,000 buys the 1500 Regular Cab RST, and the ladder climbs through crew cabs and off-road packages to AED 275,000 for the CC 4WD 1500 ZR2. Work out the cab and bed you need first; that narrows the list faster than any badge.
Which Silverado trim is the one to buy?
A crew-cab LT with four-wheel drive. It is the configuration that makes the truck usable as a family car as well as a work vehicle, and it is the one buyers look for when you sell. The Trail Boss and ZR2 are worth the premium only if you genuinely drive off-road — the suspension that makes them capable also makes them busier on tarmac.
Chevrolet Silverado or Ford F-150?
The Silverado is the cheaper way into a full-size truck here and its 5.3-litre V8 is a known quantity that any workshop can service. The Ford F-150 is the class benchmark on sales volume and resale, with a wider engine choice and a better-finished cabin for the money. The GMC Sierra is the same truck as the Silverado in a smarter suit.
Does the Chevrolet Silverado hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
Strongly. It holds about 58% of its value after five years, well clear of the roughly 44% typical for American SUVs and trucks here, which makes it one of the sounder buys in the range. The trucks CarSwitch inspects run a median of around 90,000 km, unremarkable for a full-size pickup and well within what the V8 and drivetrain are built for. Look at how it was used, not how far — towing and load history are what the report should tell you.
Is a used Silverado the better buy?
Only if you find the right specification. A nearly new example generally sits around AED 170,000 to AED 195,000, which is close enough to new money that the warranty starts to matter. Older trucks are cheap; the strong ones are not.
Fix the cab configuration first, then look at the used Silverados listed now.
