About Honda Pilot

The Pilot is Honda's full-size SUV: 8 seats, a 3.5 L V6 and a body long enough that the third row is usable by adults rather than children. It is the largest car the brand sells in the UAE and the only one built around towing and long-distance family duty. The current Pilot is a ground-up redesign that traded the previous car's rounded, minivan-adjacent look for something squarer and more upright.

How much does the Honda Pilot cost in the UAE?

Three trims share one V6, so the ladder buys specification rather than pace. The 3.5L EX 2WD opens the range at AED 175,999 and the 3.5L EXL closes it at AED 212,999. The entry car is already a full eight-seater with the same engine, which makes it better value than its position at the bottom of the list suggests.

Which Pilot trim is the one to buy?

The entry trim is the thinking buyer's choice here, because nothing above it changes the engine or the seat count. Step up only if you specifically want the all-weather traction, the larger wheels and the interior upgrade — and be aware that the extra kit is where most of the depreciation lands on a car that already loses value quickly.

Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander?

The Pilot is the roomier and more comfortable of the two, with the better third row, a more usable boot behind it and a smoother V6 than the Highlander's smaller engine. It is also the cheaper way into a genuine eight-seater. The Toyota Highlander answers on resale and on dealer reach, and the Ford Explorer is the alternative if you want more towing capability than either.

What does a Honda Pilot cost to run in the UAE?

About 9 Km/L, fair for the size but still the dominant cost. Trading Enterprises handles warranty and parts across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah; on a car this heavy the reason to stay inside the network early is suspension and transmission work, where the correct component matters more than on a small car.

Does the Honda Pilot hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

Poorly, and that is the single most important fact about it: about 40% of its value after five years, against roughly 55% for mainstream Japanese cars here. The Pilots reaching CarSwitch for inspection arrive at a median of around 140,000 km, where suspension, air-conditioning and previous accident repair are the recurring findings for large SUVs of that age. The inspection report is what separates a good one from a tired one.

Is a used Pilot the better buy?

Emphatically. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 130,000 to AED 225,000, roughly 27% below the new entry price — about AED 50,000 saved, and the gap widens sharply after that. Let the first owner absorb the depreciation and spend the difference on a thorough check.

Look at the used Pilots listed now, or the smaller CR-V if seven seats would do.
