About Infiniti QX50

The QX50 carries the only variable-compression petrol engine in production — a turbocharged four that physically alters its own compression ratio on the move. It is the most interesting piece of engineering in the compact premium SUV class, and almost nobody buys the car for it. The car around it dates from the end of the last decade and has been updated rather than replaced since, so the engine remains the newest thing about it.

How much does the Infiniti QX50 cost in the UAE?

Three versions cover a tight AED 187,000 to AED 227,000 band, from the Luxe 2.0L 2WD to the SPORT. The engine is the same across all of them, so nothing on this ladder changes how the car drives — the money buys equipment, wheels and interior trim, which makes the entry car far less of a compromise than usual.

Which QX50 trim is the one to buy?

The middle one. With identical mechanicals throughout, the only question is how much equipment you want, and the Luxe Style picks up the items most owners miss on the base car without the Sport's wheel and trim premium. The entry Luxe 2.0L 2WD is genuinely well equipped and the cheapest route to the same engine.

Infiniti QX50 or BMW X3?

The QX50 undercuts both German rivals substantially while offering more rear legroom and a bigger boot than either, and the cabin materials are better than the price suggests. It is the value choice that does not feel like one. The BMW X3 is much better to drive and holds its value far more strongly; the Audi Q5 has the more polished interior.

What does a QX50 cost to run in the UAE?

About 9 Km/L from the 2 L turbo, which is competitive for the class. Arabian Automobiles Company covers sales and service in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, and the practical benefit is that Nissan-shared components keep parts prices well below German equivalents once the warranty has run out.

Does the QX50 hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

It gives up more than its segment: about 41% of its value after five years, against roughly 51% for Japanese premium cars here. That is the cost of a smaller badge, not a mechanical judgement. Well past 100,000 km on the examples reaching CarSwitch for inspection, which sit at a median of around 113,000 km and remain in regular use across both generations. The CVT and the turbo's service history are the pages worth reading closely.

Is a used QX50 the better buy?

Strongly, and that soft resale is exactly why. A nearly new example generally runs from around AED 105,000 to AED 125,000, roughly 44% below the new entry price and about AED 80,000 saved. Very little changes year to year, so an early car drives much like a current one.

Compare the trim you want against the used QX50s listed now.
