Peugeot sells the 308 here in one specification only, which makes this an unusually simple car to shop for: one engine, one trim, one price, and a hatchback body that is closer to a Golf in ambition than to anything cheaper. It is the third generation of the model and the first to wear Peugeot's redrawn lion badge.
How much does the Peugeot 308 cost in the UAE?
AED 93,900 buys the 1.6L GT Line, and there is nothing above or below it to negotiate around. That single-spec approach means the equipment you would normally pay extra for is standard, so the price you compare against a rival's entry trim is not the like-for-like comparison — line it up against the mid or upper grade of anything else in the class.
Peugeot 308 or Volkswagen Golf?
The 308 undercuts the Golf substantially and hands back very little for it: sharper styling, a more distinctive cabin, the same class of ride and a similar turn of speed from its 1.6 L turbo. The Volkswagen Golf is the more established badge and the easier car to resell, and here it is sold only in performance form, which makes it a different proposition rather than a straight rival.
What does a Peugeot 308 cost to run in the UAE?
Around 15.4 Km/L, which is strong for a car of this size and pace, and a hatchback of this weight is gentle on tyres and brakes. Where it costs you is at the resale desk and at the workshop door — the brand's authorised network here is compact, so factor in the drive to it, and budget for a slower sale than a Japanese equivalent when you move it on.
What should you watch for on a used Peugeot 308?
High mileage is the norm, so judge the car and not the badge. The 308s reaching CarSwitch for inspection reach a median of around 120,000 km, which puts most of the used pool well into the period where servicing discipline decides everything: gearbox behaviour when cold, suspension noise over joints, and whether the belts and fluids were done on schedule. That history is exactly what an inspection report on the individual car sets out.
If a well-equipped hatchback at one fixed price suits how you buy, the 308 is one of the few cars here that offers it — take a test drive before you widen the search. Consider the Peugeot 3008 if you want the same cabin higher off the ground. The used Peugeot listings are worth checking before either.
