About Toyota Avanza

The Avanza answers one question: what is the least you can spend on a new seven-seater in the UAE? Very little else about it needs explaining, and that is rather the point of the car. One thing has changed that owners of the old one notice immediately: the current Avanza is front-wheel drive on a new platform, where every Avanza before it drove the rear wheels.

How much does the Toyota Avanza cost in the UAE?

AED 63,500 buys the 1.5L SE and AED 67,500 the 1.5L GLS (commercial) — those two 2026 trims are the entire Avanza line-up. One engine serves both and the gap between them is narrow, which leaves this the cheapest new Toyota with three rows of seats, and among the cheapest new cars of any shape sold here.

Which Avanza trim is the one to buy?

The 1.5L SE for private use. The 1.5L GLS (commercial) is set up for work rather than family duty, and the name tells you so: it trades passenger fittings for load space, and it is the right choice only if the car is earning its keep. For everything else the cheaper trim is the same vehicle where it matters.

Toyota Avanza or Suzuki Ertiga?

Take the Avanza for the resale and the service network. It is the easier car of the two to sell, the easier one to find parts for, and every workshop in the country already knows it inside out. The Suzuki Ertiga is the more efficient and slightly better-riding car for similar money, and it is worth driving back to back. The Mitsubishi Xpander is the roomiest of the three.

What does a Toyota Avanza cost to run in the UAE?

Almost nothing. It returns about 13.2 Km/L from its 1.5 L petrol engine, insurance is low because the car is cheap to replace, and every service part is a commodity item. Al-Futtaim Motors handles it in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, though no independent workshop will be puzzled by it either.

Does the Toyota Avanza hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

It tracks its class almost exactly — about 69% after three years and about 55% after five, where mainstream Japanese cars here average 70% and 55%. Neither a bargain nor a trap. What to check is duty rather than age: a good many Avanzas work for a living, so weigh seat wear, suspension bushes and tyre condition against the odometer, and let the inspection report on the individual car settle the argument.

Count the seats you actually need. If the answer is five, a hatchback will be better in every way; if it is seven, this is where the arithmetic starts. The used Toyota listings hold both answers.
