About MG ZS

Small on the outside at 4,314 mm and surprisingly capacious inside with a 448-litre boot, the ZS is the compact SUV MG built its UAE reputation on. It is also, on our numbers, the strongest value-holder in the brand's range.

How much does the MG ZS cost in the UAE?

AED 78,750 for the Delux 1.5T, sold as a single specification with the equipment already fitted. For a new car with a full warranty in the fastest-growing segment in the market, that is at the bottom of what anyone charges — and there is no cheaper version to discover later that you should have bought.

MG ZS or Hyundai Creta?

The ZS is thousands cheaper and holds its money remarkably well, which is a rare combination and the strongest argument in its favour. It is also the more economical of the two to fuel. The Hyundai Creta is the more refined car with the deeper dealer network and the better resale reputation, though our figures suggest the ZS closes that gap. The Kia Seltos is the sportier alternative and the priciest here.

What does an MG ZS cost to run in the UAE?

About 17.2 Km/L from the 1.5 L engine, which is genuinely frugal for an SUV, with low insurance to match a modest purchase price. MG's UAE operation is run by Al Yousuf Motors out of Dubai and Sharjah, and the ZS is common enough that independent workshops know it well.

Does the MG ZS hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

Exceptionally well: about 81% after three years and about 70% after five, against roughly 67% and 52% for Chinese brands sold here — the best retention anywhere in the MG line-up. Interiors survive better than the class too, with 7% of the ZSs reaching CarSwitch for inspection showing interior staining against the 14% we would expect for small SUVs of the same age and mileage here. The cars come to us at a median of around 58,000 km, so read the report on the individual car before agreeing a price.

Is a used MG ZS the better buy?

The saving is the largest in the range. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 40,000 to AED 55,000, roughly 48% below the new entry price and about AED 40,000 saved, with older cars from around AED 30,000. Against that, the ZS's strong retention means a used one will also hold its money — so either decision is defensible here.

Compare the used ZSs listed now against the new price. Few cars make the used case this convincingly.
