Take a Corolla, raise the ride height, add a hatchback boot and sell it in the shape buyers actually want — that is the Corolla Cross. In the UAE both versions of it are hybrids, which makes it a cheaper car to run than almost anything else its size. It is one of Toyota's newer nameplates, launched at the start of this decade on the Corolla's TNGA platform rather than adapted from anything older.
How much does the Toyota Corolla Cross cost in the UAE?
Two trims, both hybrid: the 1.8L XL Hybrid opens the 2026 range at AED 96,900 and the 1.8L GLI Hybrid closes it at AED 111,900. The same powertrain sits in both, so equipment is all that separates them. That places the car above the cheap small crossovers and just under Toyota's own mid-size SUV.
Which Corolla Cross trim is the one to buy?
The 1.8L XL Hybrid covers the ground for most buyers: same engine, same gearbox, same economy, and what it leaves out is convenience rather than safety. The 1.8L GLI Hybrid earns the step up if you want the larger wheels, the fuller infotainment and the extra driver aids, and it is the version that moves fastest when you sell.
Toyota Corolla Cross or Hyundai Creta?
The Corolla Cross wins on the two things that actually cost you money: it is a hybrid, so it drinks far less in traffic, and it holds its value better than anything else in the class. Over five years that pairing outweighs any equipment list. The Hyundai Creta gives more kit for the money and a longer warranty, and it is the better buy on monthly payment alone. The Honda HR-V is roomier in the back.
What does a Toyota Corolla Cross cost to run in the UAE?
About as little as a family crossover can. It returns roughly 14 Km/L from the 1.8 L hybrid, which needs no plug and no change in driving habit, and warranty cover runs three years or 100,000 km. Al-Futtaim Motors handles sales and servicing in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Does the Toyota Corolla Cross hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
It is one of the strongest in the class — about 61% after five years, against roughly 55% for the average used small crossover in the Emirates, and about 74% after three. The model is young, so most cars on the market are barely run in, and the useful checks are ordinary urban ones: kerbed wheels, parking damage to the bumpers, and how the hybrid behaves in stop-start traffic. The inspection report tells you the rest.
