Two doors, four seats and no hybrid anywhere in sight: the RC is Lexus's rear-drive coupe, launched in 2014 and given a substantial revision in 2018 that brought new lights, a reworked front end and retuned suspension. In the UAE it is sold in two very different forms — a 3.5-litre V6 and a 5.0-litre V8.
How much does the Lexus RC cost in the UAE?
Two cars rather than two trims. AED 264,000 buys the F Sport Platinum 3.5L, the V6 coupe sold as the RC350, and AED 395,000 buys the RC F 5.0L Platinum, which is the RC F with a naturally aspirated V8, a Torsen differential and a completely different chassis specification.
Which Lexus RC is the one to buy?
The V6 car, unless you specifically want the V8. The RC350 has the shape, the cabin and the rear-drive balance that make an RC appealing, with adaptive damping and a well-judged ride, and it costs far less to buy and to fuel. The RC F is a genuine performance car with brakes, tyres and running costs to match — it is not a trim upgrade.
Lexus RC or Lexus IS?
The RC if you want the shape and can live without rear doors — it shares much of its engineering with the compact saloon but is lower, wider-looking and far more distinctive on the road. The IS is the sensible version of the same idea, with a usable back seat and a bigger boot. Cross-shoppers at this money also weigh the BMW 4 Series and the Ford Mustang.
What does a Lexus RC cost to run in the UAE?
The V6 car is undemanding. Its 3.5-litre engine is naturally aspirated and long-serving, it runs on standard fuel, and there are no turbochargers or complex ancillaries to plan around. The V8 changes that picture significantly on fuel, tyres and brakes. Al-Futtaim Lexus handles sales and aftersales in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with conventional service intervals across both.
Coupes depreciate faster than saloons, so it is worth comparing the used RC listings with the new price and reading the inspection report before you buy.
