About MG 3

At 4,055 mm the MG 3 is one of the smallest new cars on sale in the UAE, and one of the cheapest. It is a five-door hatchback built to a price, with a 1.5-litre engine, an automatic gearbox and a 256-litre boot.

How much does the MG 3 cost in the UAE?

AED 45,570 buys the Standard, and it is the only version sold here — a single specification at a single price, which is exactly what a first car should be. There is no trim to regret and no options list to be walked up. What you are paying for is an automatic, air conditioning and a full manufacturer warranty on a brand-new car.

MG 3 or Toyota Yaris?

The MG undercuts everything, and for a city runabout, a second car or a first car for a new driver that is most of the argument. It is roomier inside than its length suggests and it is new, which a used Yaris at the same money would not be. The Toyota Yaris costs more and repays it at resale and in service-network depth. The Kia Picanto is the closest thing to a direct rival on price.

What does an MG 3 cost to run in the UAE?

Very little. A 1.5 L naturally aspirated engine producing modest power is cheap to insure, cheap to fuel and cheap to repair, and the Automatic gearbox is a conventional unit rather than anything exotic. MG is distributed here by Al Yousuf Motors, with workshops in Dubai and Sharjah, and independent garages have no trouble with a car this simple.

What do we see on used MG 3s at inspection?

They come to us young. The cars CarSwitch inspects run a median of around 30,000 km, which is light use and consistent with a hatchback bought for short city journeys rather than long commutes. On a small, inexpensive car the things worth checking are cosmetic and structural — parking damage, panel repairs and tyre condition — because those are what city driving produces. Read the inspection report on the specific car before agreeing a price.

If the budget is fixed, put a new MG 3 next to the used ones listed now and decide whether the warranty or the extra size matters more.
