The Whale is the odd one out in MG's UAE range: an all-wheel-drive SUV with a 2.0-litre turbo making 370 Nm, in a 4,702 mm body styled far more aggressively than anything else the brand sells.
How much does the MG Whale cost in the UAE?
Two 2026 trims share the same engine and the same all-wheel-drive system, so the ladder is purely about equipment. The Comfort 2.0T starts at AED 94,290 and the Luxury 2.0T at AED 105,000, a gap narrow enough that nobody buying this car for what it is should be shopping at the bottom of it.
Which Whale trim is the one to have?
The higher one. Since performance is identical across the range, the extra outlay goes entirely on interior materials, driver assistance and cabin technology, and on a car bought partly for its appearance those are the things you interact with daily. The base model is not poorly equipped — it is simply the same car with less of what you would have wanted.
MG Whale or Changan CS75 Plus?
The Whale is the more distinctive car and the only one of the two with all-wheel drive as standard, which changes how it behaves on sand and in the wet. It is also the more powerful. The Changan CS75 Plus is the more conventional family SUV with a better-judged interior and lower running costs. In the same showroom, the MG HS is the sensible, cheaper alternative.
What does an MG Whale cost to run in the UAE?
More than the smaller MGs, because a 2.0-litre turbo driving all four wheels is not a frugal combination and the tyres are wider than the class norm. Servicing and warranty work are handled by Al Yousuf Motors from Dubai and Sharjah. There is no hybrid hardware here, so repairs stay in familiar territory.
Does the MG Whale hold its value in the UAE?
It holds about 69% after three years and about 54% after five, a little ahead of the roughly 67% and 52% typical of Chinese brands here — a respectable result for a car with unconventional styling, which usually narrows the pool of later buyers. Distinctive design ages faster than plain design, so on a used one the condition of the paint, wheels and trim carries unusual weight.
Is a used Whale the better buy?
Strongly arguable. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 60,000 to AED 80,000, roughly 36% under the new entry price and about AED 35,000 saved, which is one of the widest gaps in the MG range. Check the used Whales listed now and read the inspection report before you commit.
Drive it back to back with the HS. The Whale asks a premium for character, and only you can price that.
