The 812 GTS is the open-topped version of Ferrari's front-engined V12, with a retractable hardtop and a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated engine sending drive to the rear wheels through a transaxle.
How much does the Ferrari 812 GTS cost in the UAE?
A single specification is listed at AED 1,696,900, near the top of the local Ferrari line-up — the range as a whole runs AED 955,500 to AED 2,000,500. The premium over the fixed-roof car is the roof mechanism and the structural work that goes with it, not extra equipment.
What is the appeal of an open V12?
The engine. Quoted at 800 BHP and 718 Nm with a 340 km/h maximum, the 6.5-litre revs high and makes a noise no turbocharged or hybrid car can imitate, and with the roof down you hear all of it. That is the entire argument, and for many buyers it is enough.
812 GTS or 812 Superfast?
Take the GTS if you will drop the roof — between November and March that is most weekends here, and the car is transformed by it. The 812 Superfast is stiffer, lighter and cheaper, and the better car if it will be driven hard; the F8 Spider is the open V8 alternative for less money.
What should an owner budget for?
Tyres, brakes and the scheduled service rather than fuel — a V12 used gently is not the expensive part of this car. The roof mechanism needs exercising and inspecting at every service. Work goes through the authorised network, and on a low-volume V12 a complete stamped history is a large part of what the car is worth later.
Does the 812 GTS hold its value better than other supercars?
It does, and by a wide margin: about 71% after five years and 82% after three, where exotic supercars here average roughly 56% and 70%. An open V12 that will not be replaced is the kind of car values chase rather than abandon.
