AMG's entry car in the UAE is the A 35, the only A-Class saloon sold here with all-wheel drive and 306 BHP. It is the cheapest new car in the country wearing an AMG badge on the boot. AMG carried this car through the A-Class facelift, so the current car has the newer cabin electronics.
How much does the Mercedes-AMG A 35 cost in the UAE?
Two body versions and almost nothing between them: AED 279,199 for the 4MATIC Compact Saloon and AED 287,800 for the 4MATIC Saloon. Mechanically they are the same car, so the choice is proportions rather than performance — unusual on an AMG price list, where a step normally buys power. Engine, gearbox and 4MATIC hardware are shared.
Mercedes-AMG A 35 or the A 45 S?
Buy the A 35 unless you have a specific reason not to. It has the same character and most of the pace for a large step less money, and 306 BHP through four driven wheels is already more than the roads here let you use. The A 45 S at the top of the A-Class range brings a hand-built engine and a cleverer rear differential — a specialist car, priced like one.
What does an AMG A 35 cost to run in the UAE?
About 10 Km/L, and fuel turns out to be the small number. Tyres and brakes are the real bill: it runs wide, low-profile rubber that the heat here punishes, and AMG-specification pads are not cheap. Sales and service sit with the authorised Mercedes network in Dubai, which sets the labour rate you will pay for the life of the car.
Does the A 35 hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?
Better than the standard A-Class — about 53% after five years and 68% after three, against roughly 43% and 60% for German premium saloons here. The watch-out sits underneath: 27% of the ones CarSwitch inspects show mismatched or damaged tyres, against the 10% we would expect for hot hatches of the same age and mileage. That is a sign this car gets driven the way AMG intended, and an expensive thing to inherit unnoticed.
If you want the same drivetrain with ground clearance, the AMG GLA 35 is the identical idea in an SUV body; otherwise the A 35 is the sweeter-driving of the two. And the used A 35s listed now show what the car does after a first owner.
